Start by removing all clutter in your bedroom. This will help you feel at ease when you walk in.
Set out to create a restful space by keeping electronic devices such as computers,televisions and phones out of the bedroom.
Select colours for the room which you find calming and relaxing. Examples could be dark and moody, crisp white or colours from a relaxing place such as the coast.
As you spend one third of your life in the bedroom, invest in the best quality mattress that you can afford together with the best quality bedding.
Keep the bedroom as dark as possible for sleeping. Bedside lamps, light dimmer switches and window shutters are great for controlling light. Consider tight fitting blinds should you wish to keep the room very dark.
Plan to keep the temperature in the bedroom cool with the use of good air flow, ceiling fans or air-conditioning.
